If you can’t trust a bank, who can you trust?

*This message brought to you by the new, new Wells Fargo.

Everyone should be suspect of big banks, and large companies in general.

Amazon, Microsoft, Apple, Google, BoA, Alibaba, Facebook, etc are not your friends. They have above average contempt for users, and below average motivation for user happiness.

Gen-X here too, and I switched to a credit union about 18 years ago and haven’t looked back.

When I opened my first ac count in high school it was with Norwest Bank, which had just entered Colorado. I was happy with them right up until Wells Fargo took them over.

This is why I’m for the  federalization of the banking industry.

Dealing with 2 finanical advisers last year, both said “you can trust me” like 3 times in 10 minutes. To me thats just a giant red flag.

“So why don’t we go ahead?” “I don’t trust you” “why not” “you want me to give you control of thousands of my dollars and you don’t think trust is the first thing you should be selling?”

This is quite timely, as yesterday I had to go into my local branch to yell at Bank of Montreal for their scumbag thievery. I want to drop them completely but I’ve got a GIC locked in till the end of this year.

Early Millennial here. I ditched BoA after watching their behavior throughout the mid-2000s and dealing with them stealthily adding fees and restrictions to my formerly free checking account. I didn’t see “un-fuck our core banking practices and general scumbaggery ” on that list, so I guess I’ll just have to live with my credit union’s free checking, high(er) interest savings, cash back credit card, and year-end profit sharing a while longer. Darn.
